NANS Threatens To Shut Down Private Varsities If ASUU Strike Persists

The newly elected National Association of Nigerian Student’s president, Asefon Sunday Dayo has sent a threat across, which states that all Private Universities in Nigeria will be shut down completely if the lingering industrial strike embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) isn’t called off sooner.

Asefon Sunday Dayo in a statement had said firstly a dialogue between NANS body and FG together with ASUU will take place then if the strike doesn’t get resolved soon the private universities in the country would be shut down.

Asefon who lamented that the current ASUU strike is the longest in recent times, made his position known during a Punch online interview programme, The Roundtable.

The newly elected NANS president also says it’s their wish that all parties come to agreement and consider those negatively affected by the industrial strike action as soon as possible. However if the parties refuse to end the lingering strike the body will have no choice than to shut down all tertiary Institutions currently in session at the moment.
